A stretch of warm days give me hope we can take our new Jeep out for its first foray into the foothills above Boise.
I may be the one most excited for our first chance to take the Jeep somewhere Jeepish. It will probably still be chilly on the Boise Ridge so we collect items for a picnic campfire before heading up Rocky Canyon in the foothills north of town.
We stop at our usual waypoint near Aldape Summit to stretch our legs and look back over Boise.
There are several dirt pullouts along the ridge road but it’s windy so we keep driving until we find a spot with a little shelter for our fire.
Hunter is glad to tend the fire for us.
Cold wind drives us back to the shelter of the Jeep not long after eating. We stop again only for occasional views of town.
Tracks and cut trees leave me expecting the road will be clear through to the ski hills but the chainsaw volunteers apparently gave up at an especially large pile of down trees. Back we go.
In lieu of making it through to Bogus Basin, we divert to explore Eagleson Road around Boise Peak. It’s beautiful and fun. I can’t wait to try taking the top and doors off.
Brenna wakes up when I stop for a picture of her and Hunter sleeping but she pretends to sleep again when I explain why I was stopping.
The kids for some reason are both excited to clean the Jeep. I wonder if that will last. Either way, I’m expecting it to give us many more adventures.
